Fun in Sausalito …

Had some kicks at the Lexus 2017 Tasting event which was hosted by the Cavallo Point Lodge last Sunday in Sausalito.   No doubt there were some good whites there but I had a nice pinot to start and couldn’t switch back to the whites.

My fav wine was Honig Vineyard and Winery’s 2014 cab.  The cab had great depth and terrific finish.  The cab came in handy when I had Blackberry Farm of Tennessee’s grilled pork belly with fennel.  Results–oh so rich but oh so good.   Blackberry’s other offering, a superb smoked trout on thin chips paired well with the cab as well.

Had a nice chat with Elizabeth Murray, exec chef at the Post Ranch Inn, the Cavallo’s sister property.  Really liked her quail eggs and the Ranch’s pastry chef, Ben Spungin’s strawberry parfait.

Aside from all of the good food and wine, it was nice to stroll out to the patio, check out the spectacular views and get close to the Lexus’ latest sports cars.  Fun times.
